About
Beige Lion is a fire performer for hire in Northcote, VIC.
Twenty years of ballet, contemporary and jazz sits underneath everything Beige Lion does, and it shows in how the props move. Four years of fire, LED and UV performance have built out a serious kit: programmable LED poi, tech fans, silk fans, a pixel whip and wings on the light side, then fire fans, sword, staff, poi, palm torches and lyco torches. Silk fans and holographic wings cover daytime work. The programmable props can display your event logo or custom imagery. Sets run from five to twenty minutes, with about half an hour each way for set-up and pack-down. A three by three metre area is the minimum, and fire needs three metres of clearance all round on a non-flammable surface. Fully insured, public liability included.
The show
Twenty years of dance training sits under this act, and four more spent working with fire, LED and UV. That combination shows up in how the props move rather than in a list of tricks. The LED kit runs to poi, tech fans, silk fans, a pixel whip and performance wings, and the programmable ones can display your event logo or custom imagery, which is worth knowing if you're running a branded night. Fire brings fans, a sword, a staff, poi and lyco torches. For daytime there are silk fans that add colour without needing darkness. Beige Lion turns up on time, communicates clearly and is easy to deal with from the first message through to the pack-down.
On the day
Three metres square is the preferred performance area, so there's room to move safely. Fire changes that: it needs a clear, non-flammable surface and three metres of clearance in every direction from the audience and anything else. A fire safety person has to be designated, and Beige Lion can organise that for you. Sets run five to twenty minutes each, with about half an hour to set up and the same again to pack down. One thing to plan for: LED, UV and fire all look best in low light, so schedule accordingly.
Performance options
Two shapes to choose from. Roving works the crowd, either as daytime props, LED and UV, or a full fire show. Feature shows are the set-piece version, again as either LED or fire. Add-ons sit on top: programmable LED props that carry your logo or custom visuals, lyco torches for a bigger fire look, and extra fire effects where you want more drama.
