#GoodEnough is a non-naturalistic theatre show for high school students, built around a cast that includes teacher, students, parents, and the Inner Critic and Inner Motivator that live in a teenager's head. Putting those voices on stage as characters gives students something to argue with, and the audience is invited to do exactly that. The point they arrive at is that you get to choose which voice you listen to. A Self-Talk workshop follows the performance, where students map and play out their own characters of the mind. Ally Aurora brings all the set pieces. The school supplies a small table and three chairs. Touring high schools across Victoria.
The show
#GoodEnough is a non-naturalistic show for high school students. The cast includes a teacher, students and parents, alongside two characters who live inside a teenager's head: the Inner Critic and the Inner Motivator. Putting those voices on stage as people gives students something to argue back at, and the audience gets invited to do exactly that. The point they land on is that you get to choose which voice you listen to. Afterwards comes the Self-Talk workshop, where student volunteers play out the characters themselves, followed by journaling, a visualisation activity, sharing and questions.
On the day
Ally Aurora brings the set with her: a fold out single bed, two hat racks, a speaker and the rest of the pieces. From the school she needs a small table and three chairs. That's the whole list, so the hall or drama room you already use will do.
