Stone Unknown has been DJing since 2005, across clubs, festivals, weddings and private parties, in Australia and through Europe and Asia. The work list runs to City 2 Surf, the West Coast Eagles, Optus Stadium, Oktoberfest in the Gardens, Froth Town, Channel 9 and Crown, plus a long run of wedding receptions. Sets lean on self produced mashups dropped in among the party hits, so it doesn't sound like a playlist anyone could put on. Club, house, hip hop, drum and bass and the sub genres either side of them. A DJ and sax pairing is available if you want something with a bit more movement in it. Perth based. The show
Stone Unknown has worked main stages at festivals, support slots, club rooms, private functions, boat and beach parties, luxury hotel events and themed nights, in Australia and overseas. He knows a crowd has to be worked rather than played at, and the way he does it is by dropping his own mashups in among the party hits, so the set is not something a playlist could reproduce. He started out in 2005 and has spent years since across bass music and club scenes, which is where the breadth of genre knowledge comes from. He handles the technical side confidently too.
On the day
His preferred booth is three or four Pioneer CDJ multi players, the 2000NXS2, 3000 or 3000x, running into a Pioneer DJM-900NXS2 mixer. Everything wants to be linked through an eight port gigabit network switch on Cat5e or Cat6 cabling, with firmware current on the mixer and every player. Each CDJ should be connected to the mixer both digitally and via analog. The gear sits on a megadeck of 2.4m or larger. One monitor speaker off the booth output or the mixer, and any external instruments fed through that same speaker.
