About

Peter Morrison is a DJ for hire in Pakenham, VIC.

Reading a crowd and picking the song to match is most of the job for a wedding DJ, and it's the part Peter Morrison is known for around Melbourne. Based in Pakenham, he covers everything from 40s and 50s through to current pop, with classic rock, country rock and dance in between. Morning melodies through to late receptions. He can also mix DJ sets with solo acoustic playing across one event, so the ceremony, the dinner and the dance floor each get the right thing. Indoors he just needs power. Outdoors he needs cover, though there's a battery PA for smaller, shorter gatherings. Allow an hour and a half to two and a half hours for load-in, and one set-up spot if you can manage it.

The show

Peter Morrison is straightforward to deal with from the first email through to pack-down. He replies quickly and clearly, turns up when he says he will, and treats the venue and the guests with respect. The gear is good and it is looked after, so the night sounds the way it should. Friendly and professional is the short version, and for a wedding or a function that is worth more than it sounds when you are juggling the rest of the day.

On the day

Indoors, power is the only thing Peter needs. Outdoors he needs cover as well, plus power within about 10 metres, though for a smaller and shorter gathering there's a battery powered PA that removes the problem entirely. Load-in and set-up takes an hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on the size of what you're running. One set-up spot is easier than several, so mention it early if the gear has to move between a ceremony and a reception space. Parking and site access details are always welcome.

Performance options

DJ sets and solo acoustic playing can be mixed across the one event, so the ceremony, the dinner and the dance floor each get whatever suits them best. It gets put together around your day rather than sold as a fixed block. Tell him the times and the spaces you're working with and he'll build it from there.
