About
DJ Michael Roberts is a DJ for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
House music since the late 80s, and still the same lane. Michael Roberts plays deep house, jazzy house, funky house and NYC garage out of Melbourne, and the sets stay underground rather than chasing the charts. Expect a run through House and Garage from the late 80s to now, played on two or more turntables. Technics SL-1200s or 1210s preferred, or CDJ 3000s and earlier. Book three hours or more and he throws in a fourth for nothing.
The show
House and garage, late 80s through to now, played as a journey rather than a series of separate songs. That's the shape of a Michael Roberts set. The energy stays high and the mood stays good, but this is not a chart set with a few house records in it, it's the other way round. If your room likes deep, jazzy and funky house with some NYC garage in the mix, this lands. If they want current top 40, look elsewhere.
On the day
Turntables, two or more of them. Technics SL-1200s or SL-1210s are the preference. Failing that, CDJ 3000s or any earlier version of the CDJ will do the job. Worth confirming with your venue which decks are in the booth before the night, since that's the one thing this booking depends on.
Performance options
Book three hours or more and you get a fourth hour thrown in at no charge. Simple as that, and useful if your night has a habit of running longer than planned.
Song list
My sets are alway focused on Underground House Music past and present.
