About
The Gowrie Gals is a cover band for hire in Toowoomba, QLD.
Three-part harmony, period costumes and choreography borrowed from the singers who entertained troops in the 1940s. The Gowrie Gals have been performing across the Darling Downs since 2023, drawing on the Andrews Sisters, the Boswell Sisters and the Chordettes, with the odd modern song slipped in. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen, Shoo Shoo Baby and Mr Sandman all feature. Book them for a one-hour show or as a roaming act moving between guests, which they clearly enjoy more, since people tend to ask for photos and join in on the choruses. A guitarist backs them at minimum, with violin and double bass available. Vintage, transport and military events suit them especially well, as do retirement villages. Insured.
Watch
The show
Photos, mostly. That's what happens when The Gowrie Gals work a room - guests want a picture with them, and by the second chorus a few are singing along whether they meant to or not. Three-part harmony, period costume, and a guitarist behind them at minimum, with a violinist and a double bass player available on top of that. It lands best where the setting already has some history to it: vintage car meets, transport and military days, retirement villages, family gatherings. They'll travel, and they genuinely like trains and old planes, which tells you something about why the act works.
