About
Stripped Back is a cover band for hire in Wagga Wagga, NSW.
Three pieces, Wagga Wagga, and a fat rocking sound in the ZZ Top mould. Stripped Back is Tank, Reg and a drummer who's either Shoey or Darrell depending on work commitments. The material is rock and roll first, Chuck Berry and Elvis, then classic rock through Creedence, Australian Crawl, The Angels and The Doors, with a bit of country from Keith Urban and Johnny Cash. Blues gets a look in too. Sets include Johnny B Goode, Born to Be Wild, Sweet Home Chicago, To Her Door and Better Be Home Soon. Some people dance, some just tap along, and the band is happy either way. Allow about an hour and a half for set up and sound check.
The show
Rock and roll first, then rock, blues and country, played by three blokes with no interest in background music. Some rooms dance from the first song. Others tap along from the table all night. Both are fine by this band, and neither changes how hard they play.
On the day
Give them roughly ninety minutes on site before the first song. That covers unloading, getting everything into position and running a sound check properly rather than at speed. Worth pencilling into the run sheet early, because a rushed check is the thing you hear later in the mix.
