About
SoulTonic is a cover band for hire in Ulladulla, NSW.
Seven pieces, keys and a brass section, and a set list that starts with Sam and Dave and finishes somewhere around Lizzo. SoulTonic work out of Ulladulla and take on weddings and corporate functions, which means they know when to hold back and when to open it up. Soul Man, Express Yourself, I Need a Dollar, Get Down On It, My Girl, Let's Groove, Higher and Higher, a slab of Jamiroquai and the Good Times into Rapper's Delight run. They bring their own PA and lighting plus a wireless mic for the MC and speeches, so there's nothing to hire in. All they need is about four by five metres of indoor floor and mains power.
Watch
The show
Seven players, with keys and a brass section doing the heavy lifting. SoulTonic pitch the set at getting people up: Soul Man, Express Yourself, I Need a Dollar, Get Down On It, My Girl, Let's Groove, Higher and Higher, a stack of Jamiroquai, and the Good Times into Rapper's Delight run when the floor is ready for it. Sixties soul through to modern hits, with plenty of years between them. Weddings and corporate functions are the usual work, so they know when to sit back and when to open it up.
On the day
About four metres by five of flat indoor floor is what seven players and a brass section need, plus access to mains power. Flat matters more than you'd think once there's a drum kit involved. Have a look at the room and make sure that footprint isn't where you also wanted the cake table, because it's the one measurement that can't really be squeezed.
Performance options
The band handles its own production. High quality PA and lighting travel with them, and a wireless microphone comes along for your MC and for speeches, which saves chasing a separate mic from the venue. Seven pieces including keys and brass is the standard line-up, so what you book is what turns up.
