Ignation is a cover band for hire in Wangi Wangi, NSW.
The twist with IGNATION is who's singing. Louise, from Wales, sings material that was originally a bloke's territory and turns it into something else entirely. Behind her, Dave Lee holds down bass with the kind of groove that only comes from years of Australian pub stages, and Dean, a New Zealander, brings inventive drumming that keeps the whole thing moving. They play originals alongside a deep well of classic rock: Divinyls, The Doors, the Stones, Neil Young, Oasis, Texas. Three sets covering ground from Roadhouse Blues and Jumping Jack Flash through Dani California and Cigarettes & Alcohol to Sweet Home Alabama and LA Woman. Based at Wangi Wangi on Lake Macquarie.

Four musicians, and the mix of where they've come from is a big part of the sound. Louise sings lead, originally from Wales, and she takes well-known songs somewhere unexpected rather than copying the record. Dave Lee plays bass with the sort of groove you only get from years on Australian stages, and he anchors the whole thing. Dean, from New Zealand, drums with real invention, putting his own stamp on the rhythms instead of just keeping time. Dave Hoppe handles lead guitar, Australian, and his solos are the fiery end of the band's sound. Put those four in a room together and the performances get loud fast.
