GridLock is a cover band for hire in Blacksmiths, NSW.
GridLock come out of Lake Macquarie playing hard rock loud. Mace Williams sings, Sage Mullins plays guitar, and Zac Stubbs and Christopher Gonzalez hold down the rhythm section. The set mixes their own songs, including Fear of the Depths and The Lord of Time, with Metallica, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Wolfmother, Paramore and Silverchair. In 2024 they reached the YouthRock Semi-Finals. They travel with their own lighting and more than one sound system, so an outdoor gig that needs volume is no problem. There's also an unplugged version of the band if you want the same songs played quietly.
The show
Loud, tight and built on the rhythm section. Zac and Christopher lock the bottom end down hard, Sage's guitar does the damage on top, and Mace sings it with more feeling than hard rock usually gets. The songs come out aggressive and groove-driven at the same time. They play like a band that rehearses, and the chemistry shows from the first bar. In 2024 they made the YouthRock Semi-Finals, which for a Lake Macquarie band their age is no small thing.
On the day
They bring their own lighting and more than one sound system, so indoor and outdoor both work. The main rig runs a pair of 600 watt Behringer tops, which covers most rooms. When a gig needs real volume they'll bring the JBL 750s and a pair of 1000 watt Turbosound subs instead. Either way it's their gear, set up by them.
Performance options
Two versions of the same band. Classic GridLock is the full rock line-up, everything plugged in and played at proper volume. GridLock Unplugged takes those same songs and does them acoustically, which suits a room where you want the music heard rather than felt through the floor.
