About
First Summer is a cover band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
No backing tracks. Everything you hear from First Summer is played live, which is a real distinction in party band territory. Repertoire runs past 100 songs, from Michael Jackson and Earth Wind and Fire through Whitney Houston and Bon Jovi to Bruno Mars, Daft Punk and Meghan Trainor. The line up flexes: an acoustic duo for arrivals and dinner, then the full five piece once the dancing starts, up to six sets across an evening. They'll learn a song that isn't on the list too, which matters for a first dance or a father daughter dance, given enough notice. Their own Bose PA and lights handle rooms up to 400 people. Minimum space is five metres wide by four deep, though they've managed tighter.
Watch
The show
They arrive with enough time to set up and sound check properly, and they're ready to go at least half an hour before they're due to start, which takes one worry off your run sheet. The repertoire is over 100 songs, popular and classic, and they'll adjust what they play to suit what you've told them about the night. Flexible is the word they use, and in practice it means the set gets built around your event rather than the other way round.
On the day
The band arrive with a complete setup of their own: professional Bose sound gear and lights. The system handles audiences of up to 400 comfortably. Minimum space is 5m wide by 4m deep, though they'll tell you themselves they've squeezed into smaller corners before and made it work.
Performance options
Up to six sets across an evening, which is enough to cover a whole night without you needing anything else. Two of those can come from the acoustic duo, playing quieter background music while guests arrive and through dinner. Then the full five piece takes over for the party music once people are ready to dance.
