About
Empyre * is a cover band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Brisbane cover band, ten years in, fronted by Bek on lead vocals with JZ on guitar. They play three to four hours and they don't reuse a setlist. What goes in depends on who's in the room, which is why one night runs Fleetwood Mac and the next lands on Nirvana. Rock, pop, R&B, dance, grunge, Top 40 and disco all get a turn, dinner music and party music in the same booking. Bek will MC for you and keep music playing through the breaks. Allow an hour to set up for the duo, an hour and a half for the band, which brings its own sound technician. Public liability insurance is held.
The show
They arrive when they said they would, which sounds like the least you'd expect and isn't always what you get. Bek fronts it, and she'll MC your event as well as sing, keeping the room informed between songs without turning it into a speech. In the breaks she keeps music playing, pitched at whoever's actually in front of her. The bar empties and the dance floor fills, roughly in that order, and it stays that way because someone is watching the room all night.
On the day
An hour for the duo to set up, an hour and a half if you've booked the full band. The band travels with its own sound technician, so there's nobody from your venue standing at a desk guessing. Build the extra time into your schedule and the sound check is done well before guests walk in.
