Class Action is a cover band for hire in Pyrmont, NSW.
Six players out of inner Sydney: bass, drums, guitar, keys and two lead vocalists sharing the front. Class Action work through soul, rock and blues that most rooms already know, with a range that takes in Flame Trees, Africa, Chain Of Fools, Great Southern Land, Beds Are Burning, All Right Now, Boys In Town and Evie. Two vocalists means the set can shift character without losing energy. They'll open quiet while guests arrive or go straight to up tempo if you'd rather skip the warm up. Everything comes with them, instruments through to PA, mixing desk and lights, and a stage is nice but the floor works fine. Allow a couple of hours for setup and sound check. Worth warning the neighbours, and worth leaving room to dance.
The show
Six of them, two lead vocalists out front, and a set aimed squarely at getting people up. Class Action tailor the running order to the mood you're after, so you can have them ease into the night or go hard from the first song. The front line talks to the crowd rather than performing at it. One practical thing they raise themselves: some guests always want somewhere quieter to talk, so it's worth having a room or a corner away from the speakers. Tell them what suits and they'll work to it.
On the day
Everything arrives with the band. Guitars, keys, drums, amps, microphones, the PA, the mixing desk and the lights. A stage is nice if you've got one, but they're just as happy playing on the floor. Allow a couple of hours for set up and sound check, ideally before guests turn up. Leave space for a dance floor, because it will get used. And it's worth mentioning the party to the neighbours beforehand.
