Brass Monkey is a cover band for hire in Newcastle, NSW.
Four musicians, five decades of covers. Brass Monkey work from the 70s through to today: Powderfinger, INXS, Talking Heads, The Beatles, Paul Kelly, The Black Keys and the Rolling Stones all get a run, delivered with strong vocals and proper harmonies rather than one voice carrying the lot. And the setlist digs deeper than standard pub fare. Valerie by The Zutons, Flagpole Sitta and Bondi Cigars sit alongside the Creedence, Queen and U2 staples. This Newcastle four piece can supply PA and lighting, plus a sound engineer if your venue needs one, and they're as at home at weddings and functions as they are on a pub stage.
The show
Four players and a proper vocal front, meaning harmonies rather than one singer doing all the lifting. The material sweeps from the seventies to now, so a Beatles number can sit next to The Black Keys without the night feeling stitched together, and the deeper cuts get a run alongside the songs everybody expects. PA and lighting can come with them, and a sound engineer too where the room calls for one. Newcastle is home, and the same set works on a pub stage or at a wedding.
On the day
Brass Monkey can bring their own PA and lighting, so a venue without a house system is no obstacle. Where the room needs someone on the desk, they'll organise a sound engineer as well.
