About
Blue Martini is a cover band for hire in Newcastle, NSW.
Five pieces, Newcastle, blues and pop with a bit of jazz thrown in. Blue Martini can do a quiet canapes hour or lean into the big ballads, and the songs they draw from say plenty about the sound: Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Beth Hart, Dusty Springfield, Tom Waits, Bill Withers, and Bon Jovi or Kiss when the room wants louder. They work clubs, hotels, restaurants, private functions, corporate nights and community festivals. Fully insured for public liability. Setup needs are simple, just a 240 volt outlet.
The show
The band shifts to fit the hour it is playing. Early on, over canapes and conversation, Blue Martini sit back and let the room talk. Later the ballads come out with some weight behind them. Five players, jazz threaded through the blues and pop, and a set that has clearly been thought about rather than assembled on the drive over. Presentation is part of it too, from how they look on stage to how organised the paperwork is.
