About
Anna Waters-Massey - Comedy for women is a comedian for hire in Gold Coast, QLD.
Comedy written for rooms full of women. Anna Waters-Massey mixes stand-up with parody songs, rewriting hits like I Will Survive (as Girls Are Good) and What About Me (as I Need to Pee), and sung properly, because she's a trained singer as well as a comic. She created and starred in Stage Mums, a comedy series that aired on Network Ten. Her sets run short and sharp, from a seven minute spot to a 15 minute set with two songs, which makes her an easy fit between speakers at lunches, seminars and women's events. She needs a microphone and a PA that can play a backing track. That's it.
Watch
The show
Stand-up followed by a parody song, aimed squarely at a room full of women. Anna Waters-Massey has worked in film and TV, including her own comedy show Stage Mums which went to air on Network Ten, and she's a professional singer who's spent years performing live and in studios. So the songs are properly sung, not shouted through for the joke. Her material has picked up thousands of views online.
On the day
A microphone for vocals, and a PA that can play a backing track through it. She needs both rather than one or the other, since the parody songs are sung over a track and there is no performance without it. Most venues already have what is required.
Performance options
Two set lengths. The 7 minute version is a comedy set and one song, which slots neatly between speakers. The 10 to 15 minute version runs comedy, a song, more comedy, then a second song.
