Terry Dunnett's Caricatures is a caricaturist for hire in Perth, WA.
Terry Dunnett draws people, fast, and hands the result over in a heavy plastic sleeve to take home. Expect roughly 10 to 14 caricatures an hour on quality A3 or A4 paper. Across fifteen years he's sketched at more than a thousand events, from Swan Valley weddings to private parties to mining camps in the north and out on the Goldfields. He works seated at a small table with chairs, in good light, rather than roaming the room, which keeps the drawing quality up and spares anyone who would rather not be sketched. Two tripod LED lights come along for dim venues. Art supplies and sketching board are his own, and he arrives at least fifteen minutes early. Public liability insurance and a working with children clearance are both in place.
The show
Terry works fast. Somewhere around 10 to 14 caricatures an hour, though it depends who's sitting in front of him, because some faces take longer than others. Each drawing goes onto quality 200gsm paper, A3 or A4, and gets slipped into a heavy plastic sleeve so your guest can carry it home without it creasing on the way. That last bit sounds minor. It isn't, at a party where people are holding drinks. Guests tend to hover and watch the drawing take shape, which is half the entertainment on its own.
On the day
Terry needs a small table, three chairs and a spot with really good light. He works seated at his own wooden sketching board and doesn't rove around the room, which keeps the drawings sharp and means guests who'd rather not be sketched aren't cornered. His art supplies are all his own. He arrives and gets set up a good fifteen minutes before the start time you've booked. If the venue is dim, he carries two tripod LED lights that will run for up to five hours.
Performance options
Bookings usually run for two hours or more, though a single hour can be arranged if that's all the event needs, and longer sessions of three hours and beyond are welcome. Everything is supplied by Terry: paper, pens, board and lights. He's local to the Swan Valley and the areas around it, and takes country assignments as well, travelling and staying over where the job needs it.
