About
Orshi is a caricaturist for hire in Darwin, NT.
A caricature stand is one of the few things at an event that guests take home with them. This one covers Darwin and the Top End: singles, couples or a small group on the one page, roughly five minutes a drawing, at A4 or A3 in black and white or in colour if you'd like the extra minutes spent. Guests keep theirs in a clear sleeve. Orshi arrives 15 to 20 minutes ahead, then either works from a set spot or roams. The needs are modest. Three chairs, good light indoors, some shade or a marquee outdoors, and a lamp for evening work, most of which can be brought along. Artwork can also be commissioned before the day: welcome posters, invitations, seating cards, or a portrait as a gift, printed on paper or a shirt or a mug.
The show
A drawing is one of the few things guests actually take home from an event. This one covers Darwin and the Top End. Each cartoon takes around five minutes, drawn as a single, a couple, or a small group sharing one page, at A4 or A3 in black and white, or in colour if you'd like the extra minutes spent on it. Orshi gets there 15 to 20 minutes ahead, then either works from one spot or moves through the room. She draws the first volunteer, chats her way through it, and the queue takes care of itself after that. Guests keep theirs in a clear sleeve.
On the day
The needs are modest and most of them can be brought along. Three chairs, and good light if you're inside. Outdoors in the Top End sun she'll want shade or a parasol, and a sheltered corner or a marquee if the wet decides to arrive. For an evening event, a lamp or some other light source, which she can also supply herself.
Performance options
Commissioned artwork is the other half of what she does, ordered before the day rather than drawn at it. Welcome posters on your theme, invitations, seating cards, a gift cartoon or a straight portrait. Any of it can be printed onto a t-shirt, a mug or a calendar instead of paper. Standard sizes run A6 through to A2, or a custom size if you need one, in colour or black and white, and general graphic design work can be discussed too.
