Southside Music Club is a big band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Twenty players is a lot of band, and Southside Music Club use every one of them. This Brisbane community big band works through swing, jazz and big band material, the standards everyone knows plus a good few nobody expects. They've played the Brisbane Jazz Club in both 2026 and 2025, the Brisbane Big Band Festival in 2024 and 2023, and The Mornsie's 100 Years of Big Band show. Private events too. A full band needs roughly 8m by 5m of stage, eight to ten chairs and power, and six weeks notice is the minimum if you want everyone in the room.
On the day
Twenty players need room, so the practical numbers matter here. Allow a stage area of at least 8 metres by 5 metres, have eight to ten chairs ready for the seated players, and make sure there is power to the stage. The other thing is timing. Getting the whole band in one place takes organising, so the club asks for six weeks between your enquiry and the event date if you want the full line-up rather than a smaller group.
