The Velvet Set is a band for hire in Sydney, NSW.
Male and female vocals trading lines over classic swing is the whole idea behind The Velvet Set, and five years and 200 shows in, they have it down. Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr, Glenn Miller and Cole Porter make up the backbone. Neo swing from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue and the Brian Setzer Orchestra keeps the floor jumping later on. The band scales from instrumental dining music to a choreographed eight or ten piece show, and up to a 19 piece big band, with PA and lighting supplied for most venues. A vintage music DJ service covers the gaps. They are an accredited Australian Bridal Service business, and the corporate list runs through Optus, BMW, Westpac, KPMG, Commonwealth Bank and the Royal Australian Mint.

We have received positive feedback following our event at Fort Denison. The band played well and helped to create a nice ambience. We would recommend them in future. All in all the night was a great success. Thank you for your assistance.
