About
The Rescue Cats is a band for hire in Geelong, VIC.
Electric guitar, keyboards and voices. No drums, no bass, and that's deliberate. The Rescue Cats play laid-back jazz, blues, soul and retro pop around Geelong and the Bellarine, which makes them a natural fit for a winery lawn or a Sunday afternoon. Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Blondie, The Beatles, Dionne Warwick, Doug Parkinson, The Easybeats and Eric Clapton all turn up. Three or four sets of 45 minutes with background music in between, and the PA and microphones are available for your speeches. Bass and drums can be added for a bigger event, and they also put on full shows for clubs and theatres, morning through to evening.
The show
Songs people recognise, played across three or four sets of 45 minutes depending on what you'd prefer. Recorded music fills the gaps between sets, so the room doesn't go flat while the band grabs a drink. Their PA and microphones are yours for announcements and speeches. They like to talk it through with whoever's running the event beforehand, and honestly that pre-planning is where most of the difference gets made.
On the day
A dry, safe, undercover spot with two 240 volt wall sockets. Around five metres by four gives everyone elbow room, though they'll pack down smaller and manage without anyone getting an instrument in the eye. PA, lights and microphones come with them. Allow about an hour for load-in, setup and sound check, and roughly 45 minutes at the other end to pack up and get out.
Performance options
The Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong are home base, and travelling further afield is fine by them. They also put on full shows for clubs and theatres, and those can run at any time of day: morning, over lunch, through the afternoon or in the evening.
Song list
Retro Pop, Jazz, Blues, Soul, and some Rock.
Playing well known songs from artists mainly from the 1960s, 70s, 80's plus more recent.
