Five to eight pieces, sixties through to whatever's number one this week, and you pick the songs yourself. Planet Groove hand over the songlist and let the client build the night, which is not something most function bands offer. Pop, rock, funk, soul and jazz, plus a fully costumed disco or eighties show if you want the wigs and the flares. A wedding quote includes their own DJ, who'll take your first dance and the rest of the playlist. They'll run a cocktail set over canapes, walk your guests in, then turn it into a proper party later. Prince, Toto, Chaka Khan, Dragon, Crowded House and Lionel Richie all sit on the list. Allow 90 to 120 minutes for setup and soundcheck, and an hour or so to pack down. Sydney based.

The show
A wedding quote comes with their own DJ, who can build the playlist around the songs that matter to you, and an MC service can be added to the booking as well. Live music across genres, aimed at all ages, with the dance floor kept busy from the first bracket to the last. Planet Groove read what the room wants rather than sticking to one style all night.
On the day
Give the band 90 to 120 minutes on site before guests arrive to load in, set up and sound check. Pack down runs 60 to 90 minutes at the other end. Both numbers belong in your run sheet, because a venue with a hard finish time or a tight loading dock will make them stretch.
