About
Copacabana Swingers is a band for hire in Perth, WA.
Copacabana Swingers recasts well-known western songs with Latin rhythms. Marcio Mendes sings and plays guitar, Danilo da Paz brings synth accordion, and Fábio Macarrão handles drums. Instead of treating a cover as fixed, the trio changes its groove and lets the rhythm lead somewhere new. Their influences stretch from Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra to Tom Jobim, Carlos Santana, the Gipsy Kings and Elvis Presley. The band has played festivals and events around Australia, earning a reputation for getting parties moving. It's a direct, upbeat format: familiar melodies, a strong rhythmic pulse and musicians who enjoy reshaping a song in front of a crowd.
