About
Blank Canvas is a band for hire in Sunshine Coast, QLD.
"We are loud, and we love it." That's Blank Canvas telling you what you're in for. A Sunshine Coast four piece with a drummer, bass, and two guitarists who both sing, playing 90s-rooted rock full of little licks and turns, Drive, Alive, Even Flow, Interstate Love Song, Better, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, plus a stack of Chili Peppers. Sets mix covers and originals, however you want the balance. They meet you on arrival, walk you through setup and pack down, and stick around for a chat afterwards. They can run the whole gig if there's no sound gear, but they need a proper stage rather than bare dirt. Public liability insurance held.
Watch
The show
They introduce themselves before anything gets plugged in. You'll get a quick rundown of how setup and pack down will go, so there are no surprises about trucks, cables or timing. Then the set itself, made up of covers and originals in whatever balance you want, with the band reading the room and playing to it rather than through it. Afterwards they stay for a chat. For a lot of bookers that last bit is what makes the difference between hiring a band and having one at your event.
On the day
If your venue has no sound gear, they can run the entire show themselves. The one firm requirement is a proper surface to play on, a stage, decking or a solid floor, since amplifiers and drums don't sit well straight on dirt. Whether you need cover overhead depends on the forecast, so keep an eye on it and talk to them if the day looks unsettled.
