About
Marcus Lee is a bagpiper for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Marcus Lee turns up in full Highland dress: kilt, kilt hose, flashes, sporran, leather shoes, collared shirt and tie, with a glengarry if the event suits it. The tunes are the ones you'd hope for and a good many you wouldn't know to ask for, Scotland the Brave, Highland Laddie, Green Hills of Tyrol, Flower of Scotland, Auld Lang Syne, plus Waltzing Matilda and an oddity or two like Jasmine Flower and Road to Sham Shui Po. He's a Guinness World Record participant and was a Friday Feature in the Geelong Independent. Fifteen minutes covers setup, tuning and sorting out where he stands. Melbourne based, playing weddings, funerals and events that want a proper entrance.
The show
The full Highland dress is part of the booking, not an extra: kilt, kilt hose, flashes, sporran, leather shoes, and a collared shirt with a tie. A glengarry goes on when the event and the venue suit it. What he plays is worked out with you beforehand rather than picked off a standard list, so a wedding processional and a funeral get genuinely different tunes. It's the sort of thing guests remember, which is usually the point of booking a piper.
On the day
Fifteen minutes covers it. That's the pipes tuned, the position sorted, and a quick word with whoever is running the day about timings and where he should stand. No power needed and no PA, since bagpipes carry perfectly well on their own. Indoors or outdoors both work.
