About
Mark Hughes is a solo acoustic guitarist and singer for hire in Preston, VIC.
A loop pedal turns Mark Hughes into his own backing band: rhythm parts layered live, lead lines over the top, one guitar doing the work of several. He's sung and played around Melbourne for over 20 years, from the Corner Hotel and the Espy to Yarra Valley wineries, CBD bars and restaurants and, once, a cherry farm. He's supported Mark Seymour, Ross Wilson and Daryl Braithwaite. The set leans on timeless classics and crowd favourites, Flame Trees, Brown Eyed Girl, Blister in the Sun, and he's good at reading a room: keeping the mood low over dinner, lifting it when people are ready to party. Book him solo or as a duo, and he can learn new songs on request. Outdoors, he'll need cover and power.
Watch
The show
An afternoon or an evening of well played music from someone who has been doing it long enough to care whether your event goes well. Book him solo or as a duo, which is more fun again. One tip: have a look through the set list before you book, so you know his song choices suit your crowd. New songs can be learned on request for a bit extra.
On the day
Outdoors, he'll need cover over the playing area and power available. A drink or two through the gig is appreciated.
