About
Countdown Reloaded is an 80s cover band for hire in Gold Coast, QLD.
If you grew up watching Countdown on a Sunday night, this one's for you. Countdown Reloaded is a five-piece tribute to the TV show that ran from 1974 to 1987 and to the Aussie and international artists Molly Meldrum put in front of the nation: Skyhooks, Sherbet, Suzi Quatro, ABBA, KISS, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, John Paul Young and John Farnham among them. The band carries its own sound and lighting production with a sound engineer, so the show arrives self-contained; outdoor stages just need solid cover. And the set is built for singing along, because the whole room already knows every word.
Watch
The show
Five musicians and singers working through the run of artists who made Countdown must-watch television between 1974 and 1987. Skyhooks, Sherbet, Suzi Quatro, ABBA, KISS, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, John Paul Young and John Farnham are all in there. Jo Elbers fronts it, an award winning vocalist, and the production behind the band is a proper one rather than an afterthought. What you get is nostalgia with a dance floor attached. The first song usually settles the question of whether people are going to sit this one out.
On the day
Sound and lighting production come with the band, and so does a sound engineer, so nobody at your end is running the desk or hiring a rig. One thing to sort if you're outdoors, at a festival or a wedding on a lawn: the stage needs secure and stable cover overhead. Gear and weather don't mix, and a marquee that flaps in the wind isn't the same as a covered stage.
